Keren Ann is an artist whose sound is surprisingly difficult to pin down. Her work is ambitious yet feels entirely natural. She has a stunning voice that’s able to lull the listener into her comforting world of subtle folk-pop or belt out a sultry pop anthem. The songstress, born in Israel and raised in Paris, is versatile and cunning. In turn she is a commanding pop star à la Francoise Hardy or a tempered, hushed gem like Joni Mitchell. Her most recent album, 101, the first in four years, marks the much anticipated return of this pop star’s unique blend of breathy, effortless pop. It is yet another remarkable mix of atmosphere and experiences, co-written with her long-time collaborator Benjamin Biolay. This concert marks her second appearance in Halifax amidst a massive world tour.
